About your therapist and FAQs

Hi, I’m Damarys!

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I’m glad you’ve taken the first step toward caring for your mental health. Seeking help can be challenging, but I’m here to guide you through this journey. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I want you to feel comfortable exploring your needs with me.

Since 2014, I have been serving adults and the elderly in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. I offer a safe space for expressing and analyzing your feelings and symptoms, fostering an environment where you can heal and grow. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy, among others. I view each client from a person-centered and culturally focused perspective, recognizing that we all have unique stories.

Together, we will assess your needs and create a personalized treatment plan to enhance your quality of life and empower you. I am dedicated to helping clients find their inner strength, enabling them to thrive and reach their full potential.

My specialties include:

  • anxiety therapy

  • communication skills

  • coping skills

  • depression therapy

  • first responders

  • grief/bereavement counseling

  • relationship problems

  • self-esteem

  • social skills

  • stress management

I’m a Certified Grief Educator, dedicated to offering top-notch grief support through education, experience, and a deep understanding of the often overlooked aspects of grief.

Certified Grief Educators, like myself, have completed a specialized program created by renowned grief expert David Kessler. This training equips us with his unique methodology, tools, and extensive experience to assist individuals in navigating the complexities of grief.

Additionally, I am a qualified supervisor for mental health counselor interns. I recognize the importance of support throughout the licensure process and the challenges that may arise. Contact me today to learn more.

FAQs

Can I schedule a session if I’m not in Florida?

No, you must be physically present in Florida to participate in a therapy session. The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling requires that clients be in the same state where the counselor is licensed.

Do you take insurance?

No, I do not accept insurance at this time.

If you're using out-of-network benefits, I can provide a "Superbill" for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, if this service is covered. Please verify with your insurance provider before scheduling an appointment.

What are your rates?

Initial session (60 minutes) $160

Individual session (55 minutes) $150

The initial session will give us the opportunity to complete an intake, review your history, and create a treatment plan. We will focus on your current needs and discuss how I can support you in achieving the changes you’re seeking.

Sessions are customized to your goals and treatment plan, typically scheduled weekly or biweekly depending on your needs. As you progress, we may transition to monthly sessions as you near the end of your treatment.

Payment

I accept all major credit cards as payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so will result in a $75 late cancellation/no show fee.

How do I get started?

You can start by scheduling a 15-minute consultation here. During this session, we’ll assess if we’re a good fit to begin therapy together.
